AUBURN – Members of the Frank W. Hulett Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, held its annual flagging of the graves on Memorial Day weekend. American flags were placed on the graves of veterans of the Revolutionary War of 1812, Civil War, Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm.

Cemeteries visited were Auburn Plains, Evergreen, Perkins Ridge, Merrow, Mountain View, Pine Stump, Leighton, Penley, Wagg, Union, McKenney, Libby, Plummer and Plummer District and Fitz. Total miles to flag the graves was 42.

The North Auburn Cemetery was flagged by Leslie Titus, caretaker and post member.

Post Commander Thomas Trottier said, “It is one of our major duties to memorialize those who have defended this country throughout the years, with the placement of an American flag on this special weekend. It is also sad to note that 26 more veterans’ names were added to our list of deceased veterans.”

Trottier said, “If we missed any graves in the above cemeteries, we are sorry; but if you have loved ones who were veterans that were not flagged, please call 783-2561, Tuesday through Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m., and we will gladly add them to our list.”
