Benefit supper
LOCKE MILLS – A benefit supper and dance for Deanne Rothwell of Bryant Pond will be held Saturday, June 24, at the Jackson Silver Post. A chicken pie dinner will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. followed by the dance from 8 p.m. to midnight with music by DT Entertainment.
Rothwell, daughter of Dick and Evelyn Bodemer of Andover, lives in Bryant Pond with her husband and three young children. She was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, a skull-based tumor. Most of the tumor has been removed by trans-nasal surgery, but 15 percent remains and she needs to undergo proton therapy to remove the remaining piece of tumor.
It can only be done at four cancer centers in the United States: Mass. General, the University of Indiana Cancer Research Center, Texas or Loma Linda, Calif. Mass. General cannot take her, so she will go to the University of Indiana Cancer Research Center.
Friends of Rothwell have planned the benefit dinner and dance to help cover the cost of airline tickets for her to travel to Indiana during the two months of treatment.
Donations for the dinner only are $6.50; dinner and dance, $10; dance only, $5. Raffles and a 50/50 will also be held.
