RUMFORD – The SAD 43 Board on Monday unanimously ratified a new three-year contract with the district’s nutrition service workers.
Among the big changes for the contract, which begins on July 1, was a reduction in the number of job classifications from three to two, Superintendent Jim Hodgkin said. The title of helper was eliminated, resulting in the classifications of production manager and nutrition service worker.
Salary increases will be 5.26 percent for the first year, then 3.5 percent for the remaining two years of the contract. Also added was a dental insurance benefit for employees who work 30 or more hours weekly. The district will pay for a single subscriber.
Other changes include 10 days paid leave per year, with an accumulation of 125 days, up from 75. Sick leave was changed to leave with pay. The contract also calls for the district to post vacancies within 14 days of the opening.
