The Maine Moose rounded out their coaching staff Tuesday with the hiring of Glenn Carey of Sabattus.

Carey, 35, will be an assistant coach with the Moose, who are based out of Kennebec Ice Arena in Hallowell.

“We are very pleased and fortunate to have someone of Glenn’s caliber join our program,” Moose general manager Steve Levesque said in a press release. “His extensive experience in coaching and the development of hockey players will be a major asset to the Maine Moose program.”

Carey, a native of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, has been part of the staff at Thornton Academy for four years. He also worked with the Northern Developmental Hockey Program under Sean Tremblay of the Manchester Junior Monarchs.

“I am thrilled to be part of the Maine Moose junior program,” Carey said. “I look forward to working with the staff and players to make the Maine Moose a memorable and positive experience.”

The Moose have recently joined the International Junior Hockey League, which has teams based in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York and Quebec. The final tryout dates for the Moose are July 7-9 at the Kennebec Ice Arena.
