BUCKFIELD – George Healy, 83, of Sumner, was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston after being stuck by a pickup truck backing out of Tilton’s Market parking lot in Buckfield about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Nadine Nadeau of Sumner was backing her truck out of the lot when a vehicle stopped on Route 117 to let Healy cross the road.

Oxford County Deputy Jeff Huston said Nadeau assumed the car had stopped to let her out of the parking lot. She did not see Healy.

No alcohol was involved.

Healy, who lives on Bonny Road in Sumner, suffered an injured elbow. He was attended to by Buckfield rescue before being transported to St. Mary’s. A hospital nursing supervisor said Healey was treated and then discharged.

Buckfield Fire Department assisted at the scene with traffic, which was slowed for a short period of time.
