LEWISTON – A 24-year veteran of the Fire Department has been selected to fill the recently vacated position of battalion chief beginning on Monday.
As battalion chief, Lt. Bruce McKay will serve as the department training and fire prevention officer.
McKay began his career with the Lewiston Fire Department in April 1982 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2001.
His background consists of fire science courses and training, and he is Firefighter I and Firefighter II certified. In addition, he is also a certified fire instructor I.
“Lt. McKay’s fire ground experience will serve him well in his new role within the Lewiston Fire Department,” said fire Chief Paul LeClair. “He is a well-respected member of our department, and he also brings a wealth of experience from several positions he’s held with the Lisbon Fire Department, also serving there for 24 years. Lt. McKay is organized, has exemplary computer skills, and is well versed and prepared to deliver vital fire department training.”
