AUBURN – In a rematch of last season’s championship game, the Auburn White Sox defeated West Paris, 4-3, to hand the Westies their first-loss of the season in Men’s Senior Baseball League (over-30) action.

Sean Cheetham threw the first six innings to gain the victory for Auburn (4-1), with Dan Coleman entering the game in the seventh and closing the door for the save. The Sox scored all their runs in the third inning off West Paris starter Brian Cox. After an infield error plated the first run, Coleman cranked a two-run double. Another run crossed the plate courtesy of a passed ball.

West Paris (5-1) scored twice in the sixth on an RBI double by Ed Pirrainen and a sacrifice fly by Matt Corbett. The third run came on a double steal in the seventh. Cox was the only repeat hitter for the Westies, while Cheetham also chalked up a pair of hits for the White Sox. Auburn travels to Topsham next Sunday to face the Knights.
