YARMOUTH – The 17th annual Blakeman Memorial Tennis Tournament is scheduled for the weekend of July 21-23 at Yarmouth High School.

The tournament is the premier event on the Maine Tennis Association’s outdoor schedule. It is a significant fundraiser for the Maine Cancer Society and is held in conjunction with the Yarmouth Clam Festival. Competition will be held in men’s open singles and doubles, women’s open singles and doubles, mixed doubles, and men’s 55 and over doubles.

Central Maine Football Camp

LEWISTON – Bates College will again host the Central Maine Football Camp this summer.

Session 1 is open to players entering grades 3 through 8 and will run from Sunday, July 16 to Thursday, July 20. Session 2 for players in grades 9 to 12 will begin Sunday, July 23 and conclude on Thursday, July 27. All sessions run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Camp will be held at Leahey Field, located on Central Ave. in Lewiston.

Players should bring all protective gear, including a helmet, shoulder pads and a mouthpiece. The entire football staff at Bates College and a number of local high school coaches will comprise the camp staff. Cost is $75. FMI, contact Skip Capone at 786-6364 or ecapone@bates.edu.

Hospice benefit tournament at Natanis

VASSALBORO – Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area will host the Swing for Hope and Hospice Golf Tournament on Monday, August 7 at Natanis Golf Course.

Shotgun start is at 9 a.m. with a team scramble format. To register or arrange a sponsorship, call 873-3615 ext. 13.

Funds will support Hope’s Place, a grief support program for children ages 3 to 18.
