LISBON – Brenda McLean, a veteran with 39 years in education, was honored recently at a retirement party. McLean has been with the Lisbon School Department for 33 years, having taught at Lisbon Community School, and taught six years in Hamilton, Mass., before that.

More than 65 people attended her retirement party at the Taste of Maine Restaurant in Woolwich. Throughout the evening colleagues and previous administrators honored McLean with testimonials on her lifetime achievements as an educator, a mentor and friend.

Joan McDuff delivered a message sent from Barbara Brillant, a lifelong friend and missionary nun in Liberia. Some of the highlights of the evening were original poems; remakes of popular songs performed by close friends; and a memory video featuring the “picture perfect” moments with friends.

“Brenda is one of a kind and will be truly missed,” said Laurie Adams, mistress of ceremony. “Thanks for being there for all of us throughout the years,” Adams said.

McLean’s immediate plans call for some quality time with family and friends.
