LEWISTON – Kyle Lemelin struck out 10 batters and went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Eliot Avenue Little League to a 7-3 win over New Auburn in a District 5 Little League 9-10 Division elimination game Monday.
Brian Wigant and Eddie Emerson each slugged a double and Bryan Bonenfant laid down a key sacrifice bunt in the fourth inning to score the go-ahead runs for Eliot.
Defensively, Caleb Dostie stood out at shortstop.
New Auburn, meanwhile, got two hits each from Nathan Pushard and Ovanta Dufour. Pushard took the loss on the mound.
Eliot advances to play Winslow in another elimination game Wednesday in Fairfield. Hall-Dale and Fairfield will square off in a winners’ bracket game Friday, while the loser of that game will face the winner of Eliot/Winslow.
