AUGUSTA – Connor Anthoine spun a no-hitter and struck out eight batters as Eliot Avenue Little League advanced to the championship game of the 11-12-year-old District 5 Little League playoffs Wednesday with a 2-0 win over Waterville.

J.T. Whitten of Waterville locked up with Anthoine in a pitchers’ duel. Eliot managed just four hits on the game, two off the bat of Tucker Beaudoin.

Eliot scored both of its runs in the first inning. Luke Cote walked, advanced on a passed ball and scored on a Beaudoin single. Beadoin them came around on a Corbin Hyde single to cap the scoring early.

Eliot (5-0) now awaits the winner of a matchup between Waterville and Dirigo. Eliot has to win just one more game to claim the title. The winner of the other game would have to win twice to advance.
