Society program

HEBRON – The Hebron Historical Society will present a program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, at the Hebron Community Baptist Church on its first minister and a co-founder of Hebron Academy, the Rev. John Tripp.

Relative Doug Cooper will share his research findings. The public is invited.

Bible school

LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Falls Baptist Church invites all area children to join SonTreasure Island 2006.

“We’re ready for a Vacation Bible School your children will never forget,” said Pastor Steve DeGroft. “SonTreasure Island creates an atmosphere of fun and excitement where children will have a great time singing, watching skits, special presentations by our puppeteer group, creating crafts and playing games. But most important, they’ll discover God’s love and care for them.”

SonTreasure Island 2006 will be held from 8:45 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Friday, July 31 to Aug. 4, at Lisbon Falls Baptist Church, 555 Lisbon St. Children age 4 to starting seventh grade are invited. For more information, call the church office at 353-8518.

Chicken barbecue

GRAY – Gray Fire-Rescue will hold its 41st annual chicken barbecue Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Gray Public Safety Building, Shaker Road. The chicken dinners can be picked up from noon until sold out.

The meals will include coleslaw, chips, rolls with butter and a half-chicken. The department members plan to prepare about 350 dinners.

Association members will start cooking the chicken breasts about 8 a.m. on large barbecues specially made from 250-gallon metal barrels. The members work in two-man teams to flip the grills and apply the barbecue sauce.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners of the Charlie Bartlett 90th birthday game on July 17 at the Multi-Purpose Center were: N/S, first, Claire Lyons and Connie Reynolds; second, Lucille Theriault and Nancy Lindgren; third, second in B, Janice Wolfe and Pat Morris; fourth, first in C, Charlie Bartlett and Claire Tewhey.

A districtwide silver point Sectional Tournament at Clubs will be played on Monday, July 24.
