Dear Sun Spots: Enjoy your column every day, very informative. I would like to know if Sun Spots has any knowledge of anyone who refinishes hardwood floors (very large area)? Thanks for the help. – No Name, No Town.

Answer: You might consider contacting:

• Glenn Charest of Custom Design Flooring who can be reached via his home business at 783-6269, or via cell phone at 576-0748. Charest can give an estimate over the phone and then complete a site visit to estimate the cost for refinishing.

• Lamourex Floor Sanding & Refinishing, 102 S. White Road, Richmond, (800) 339-6921. Jay Lamourex is a one-man business and says he is currently booking into November. He recommends that you call to discuss what your needs are. He says he charges $1.50 a square foot for sanding and three coats of finish.

• Decorating Plus, 336 Center St., Auburn, (207) 784-0173. It is open 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dear Sun Spots: I would like to know if there is a store that takes prom dresses and dressy clothes on consignment or buys for a reasonable price? Thank you. – Amy, No Town.

Answer: Try contacting Wear and Wares at Routes 2 and 4 in Farmington, 778-0262. It is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It only accepts items on hangers, free of stains and no missing buttons. It accepts items every day. You might also note that it carries prom and wedding gowns, some new, some not, for purchase. It also carries tuxedos for rental.

Dear Sun Spots: My daughter got a Little Tikes battery-operated vehicle that she can no longer drive. Is there somewhere locally, that will look at it and possibly repair it? – No Name, Wilton.

Answer: Have you tried replacing the battery? If that hasn’t worked, you might want to check the local phone book for any small-appliance repair shop in your area. In the meantime, you might also check with your local toy store to see if they either have someone on staff, or know of anyone in the area doing this type of repair.

• To the reader seeking a response on singer Bobby Vinton: please resubmit a legible copy of your inquiry. Unfortunately, Sun Spots cannot read your handwriting. Alternatively, a typed copy or e-mail would also help. To e-mail, simply type up your request and e-mail it to sunspots@sunjournal.com.

Dear Sun Spots: Thank you for your wonderful column.

I am once again in need of your help. I am looking for a cover to an L.L. Bean bean pot. The color is cream and brown, and it has a log cabin on the front of the pot. I’m hoping a reader may have one they will be willing to part with. I can be reached at (207) 782-1491. Thank you. – J.G., No Town.
