Leeds – Mabel Ethel Bachelder, 80, of Spring Rock Park, Leeds, died on Monday, July 31, at the home of her son, Charles on River Trail in Leeds.

She was the daughter of the late Austin B. and Ethel Mae (Haley) Phillips. She was born in Avon on July 7, 1926. She attended the Avon Elementary School and Phillips High School. On July 15, 1944, she married Gideon L. Bachelder in Avon. He passed away in 1983. She had made her home in Leeds since 1963. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels at Spring Rock Park. She enjoyed crocheting and doing word search puzzles. She will always be remembered for her famous biscuits!

She was a housewife all her life and took pleasure in reading and dancing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren, as well as step-grandchildren.

She is survived by five sons, Linwood of Avon, Lubert and his wife Cindy, Alan and his wife Cathy, Charles and his wife, Nicole and John and his wife, Susan, all of Leeds; four daughters, Sylvia Hibbard and her husband, John, of Randolph, Marie Lawrence and her husband, Frank, of Kenduskeag, Patricia Nile of Leeds and Velma Lowit and her husband, Jason, of Lewiston; a brother, Andrew Phillips of Phillips; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; a seven year companion, Richard Burnham, of Leeds; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; a son, Austin Bachelder in 1975; four sisters; two brothers; and a great-grandson, Cory Tierney.
