AUBURN – Dan Coleman and Jim Cunningham both clouted an RBI double as the White Sox defeated the Indians 6-3 Sunday in the Maine Men’s Senior Baseball League. With the score tied 1-1 in the third, the Sox took the lead for good on an RBI single by Mike Brennan. In the sixth, Coleman connected for a sacrifice fly for a 4-1 lead. The White Sox plated 2 insurance runs in the ninth on a single by Marc Gosselin and a sacrifice fly by Greg Massey.

Brennan collected 3 safeties for the Sox. Coleman, Gosselin, Cunningham and Mark Plourde added 2 each.

Sean Cheetham hurled the first 5 innings for the win. Massey closed out the last 2. Cornell Knight went the distance for the Kennebec Indians. The Sox will take on the Litchfield Dodgers Wednesday night under the lights at Boothbay High School.

Fall league planned

PORTLAND – The Maine High School Fall Baseball League is now accepting registrations for the 2006 fall season. Games will start on Sept. 10, with teams playing double-headers on 6 consecutive Sundays. This year there will be a Central Maine Division and a Southern Maine Division. Division winners will play for the championship. Team managers or individuals interested in participating should call Mike Coutts at Frozen Ropes at 878-2600.
