BERLIN, N.H. (AP) – The first ATV trails in New Hampshire’s newest state park are due to open at the end of the week.

The trails are the first step in the development of the park at Jericho Lake.

The state says it will offer the most extensive network of ATV trails in the northeast when it is completed in about five years. Officials are looking at a network of up to 250 miles of trails.

For now, they will have 14 to 15 miles of trails available, said Chris Gamache, chief of the state’s Bureau of Trails.

Crews have spent more than two weeks building bridges, cutting back brush and this week, Gamache said, working on trail signs.

The first trails will open on Friday.
