WATERBORO (AP) – A convicted sex offender who caused a commotion when he moved into an apartment near a school this summer has been arrested after failing to notify the state of his address change.
Joseph Tellier, 59, was arrested on Tuesday for failing to register or update information as a sex offender when he changed his address from Biddeford to Waterboro, said Chief Deputy Maurice Ouellette of the York County Sheriff’s Department.
Tellier served 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in Saco and leaving her for dead. He was released in 2004.
Waterboro residents protested this summer when Tellier and his wife moved into an apartment near Massabesic junior and senior high schools, as well as a pizza parlor frequented by students.
