LEWISTON – The children of Roland Ike and Constance Lecompte of Lewiston, honored their parents on July 9 at a celebration in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary at the Sedgley Place in Greene.
The couple was married at Holy Family Church in Lewiston on July 7, 1956, and lived in Chicago, Ill., before returning to Lewiston to make their home and raise their family.
The theme for the day was “Blessings,” and began when the children and the grandchildren of the couple each read from a script they wrote titled “Why we are so blessed.” Following this presentation, Deacon Hazen Kenney performed a special ritual family blessing and blessed the ring that was presented to Mrs. Lecompte by her husband, Roland.
A special blessing by son-in-law Keith Duffey was given before a meal was served. A video slide show prepared by daughter, Susan, and Keith Duffey was shown, with original wedding pictures and scrapbook entries of the couple’s 50 years together.
A wedding cake was presented to the couple by sister, Jeanne and George Collins and was cut and served to the guests following dinner. Guests were invited to spend the afternoon at the cottage at Pleasant Pond, which was rented for the couple by their children. Sister, Jeanne, toasted the couple and guests enjoyed a pleasant afternoon at the lake.
Children and grandchildren of the couple are Maryann and Andrea Mason, Susan and Keith Duffey, and Michael, Ronda, Logan and Lauren Lecompte.
Guests attended from Texas, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rumford, Mexico and Lewiston-Auburn.
