NEW LONDON, N.H. – Helen M. Dutton, 88, formerly of Lake Auburn Avenue in Auburn, passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Clough Extended Care Center with family at her side.

She was born in Auburn, Aug. 30, 1917, a daughter of Willis F. and Mildred (Thompson) Millett. She was educated in Auburn schools, graduated from Edward Little High School in 1935, and attended Bliss Business College.

On April 15, 1940, she married Lloyd K. Dutton who passed away in 1970. During the war, she worked on the Manhattan Project with her husband. She worked for many years as a school teacher in the Auburn school system until her retirement in 1981.

She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Auburn and among her favorite enjoyments were the Red Sox, New England Patriots, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She leaves two sons, Lloyd “Ken” Dutton and wife, Carol Ann, of Newport, N.H. and Arthur W. Dutton and wife, Maggie, of Calgary, Canada; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Ray and husband, Virgil, of Turner; and many neices and nephews.
