PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) – Police say a Portsmouth woman awoke to an intruder touching her in bed.

She fought off the assailant around 2:30 a.m. Monday and called the police as he ran off.

Based on a description from the victim, police arrested Christopher Hemingway, 34, and charged him with getting into the woman’s apartment and sexually assaulting her.

Police say Hemingway was walking a few blocks from the victim’s apartment.
