Dear Sun Spots: I found a King James Version of the Bible among a box of books I bought at a garage sale. I’ve had it about three months but would love to locate the family whose record is included in it. It’s a family record of Craig B. England and Patricia A. Palacios. The children are Shawn P. and Maria England of Bath and Brunswick. Please call me if this is your family’s Bible and record. I can be reached at 786-2260. – Richard Caron, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: A friend from out-of-state would like a recipe for a funnel cake. They have them at fairs and carnivals. They are deep fried and served with powdered sugar on top. Thank you. – Mary Landry, Wilton.

Answer:
Sun Spots located the following recipe online at www.foodnetwork.com and hopes you and your family enjoys it:

Funnel cake ingredients: 1 cup water, 3/4 stick butter (6 tablespoons), 1 tablespoon sugar, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1 cup flour, 1 cup eggs, about 4 large eggs and 2 whites, vegetable oil, for frying, powdered sugar, for topping. Method: Boil water, butter, sugar, and salt together in a saucepan. Add flour and work it in until it is all incorporated and dough forms a ball. Transfer mixture to the bowl of a standing mixer and let cool for 3 to 4 minutes. With mixer lowest speed, add eggs, 1 at a time, making sure the first egg is completely incorporated before continuing. Once all eggs have been added and mixture is smooth, put dough in a piping bag fitted with a number 12 tip. Heat about 1½ inches of oil in a heavy pan. Pipe dough into oil, making a free-form lattice pattern; cook until browned, flipping once. Remove cake from oil, drain on paper towels, and top with powdered sugar. Continue until all of the batter is used.

Dear Sun Spots: I am writing to find out if you know of anyone who sells used typewriters. I have a Smith Corona Coronamatic 2500 that is beyond repair. I have typed on it for over 20 years and really miss it. I’d like to buy another one, same model. I have never learned to use a computer. I’d like the same model because I am so used to it and am 86 years old. If anyone has this model for sale, please contact me. I can be reached via mail at 15 Piper Road, Scarborough, ME 04074. – Ruth Wiles, Scarborough.

Answer:
Sun Spots located one for sale in California and talked with the gentleman selling it. Hopefully, you and he have touched base and it’s on the way to its new Maine home. Happy typing.

Dear Sun Spots: I find myself for the first time in need of help. At the end of May the dentist my family was seeing retired and closed her practice (Mary LeBlanc). When they closed, a bill of mine was still awaiting approval from my insurance company. By the time I received confirmation that this bill was paid, the office had closed fully and the number was disconnected. My problem is that I had given the office extra money for the bill and was owed a significant amount when they closed. Can Sun Spots or anyone else help me? Thank you. – Harmonie Estes, No Town.

Answer:
Sun Spots has not located anything here and the phone number is, as you note, disconnected. Hopefully, other readers or former patients might be willing to assist you in your search.
