FARMINGDALE – Davis Mercier netted the game-winning goal from a direct shot 50-yards out that led Livermore Falls to the 1-0 win over Hall-Dale in a MVC boys’ soccer match-up Wednesday afternoon.

Andies (2-1) keeper Markus Ryder had a solid performance, stopping 16 shots, six of which were one-on-one contacts, to preserve the shutout win.

Hall-Dale (2-2) outshot Livermore Falls 16-4.

Winthrop 3, Lisbon 2

LISBON – Tim Gingras provided two goals as Winthrop topped Lisbon 3-2 in boys’ soccer action.

Dave Zimmerman added a goal as well for the Ramblers who came out strong in the second half to break a 1-1 tie.

Marcus Bubar netted both of the Greyhounds goals, while brother Cam made a strong effort as keeper, stopping six shots. Lisbon had a strong game throughout, outshooting Winthrop 16-14, and posting more cornerkicks, 6-2.

Monmouth 4, Carrabec 3

MONMOUTH – Four different players found the back of the net as Monmouth defeated Carrabec by a score of 4-3 in MVC boys’ soccer Wednesday.

Devin Robbins and Nate Armstrong each had a goal and two assists a piece, while Max Grover and Allen Thomas each chipped in with a goal for the Mustang win.

The Carrbec effort was paced by Justing Cummings, Nick Caldwell, and Alex Neil each scoring a goal.

Dirigo 2, Mountain Valley 0

RUMFORD – Tyler Gates and Eric Bolduc both registered goals for Dirigo as they rolled past Mountain Valley 2-0 in another MVC boy’s soccer matchup Wednesday. For the Falcons (0-5) to stay within two goals of the unbeaten Cougars (5-0) was an impressive feat. Josh Saphire made five saves in net to record the shutout.

Bryan Canwell handled netkeeping duties for Mountain Valley, turning aside eight shots in the game.
