PARIS – The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer a customer service program, “Fish! Philosophy” and “Give ’em the Pickle!,” at the Western Maine University and Community College Center in South Paris in October and November. The cost of each workshop is $85.

The “Fish! Philosophy” workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 20. “Fish! Philosophy” uses a metaphor as a model to improve employee retention, create internal and external customer service and prevent stress and burnout.

Participants will learn the four components of the philosophy in an interactive workshop, and they leave with ideas to incorporate the philosophy in their workplace.

“Give ’em the Pickle” will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 3. The program explores the idea that the job is to make customers happy. “Pickles” are those extra gestures made to please customers, and the workshop will help figure out what “pickles” are. The program helps customer service representatives, store clerks and wait staff sharpen their customer service skills.
