LEWISTON – The Compass Coin Senior Lions and the Grimmel’s Gas-Up Junior Giants remained unbeaten Sunday in the Lewiston Area Youth Football League For Youth (FLY).

Matt Therrien scored twice, including a 70-yard interception return, as the Senior Lions blanked the Twins Variety Giants 34-0. Also hitting paydirt were Chris Madden, Spencer Martin and Joe McKinnon. Ben Wigant and Luke Farrago led the defense. Playing well for the Giants were Josh Thomas, Tyrell Corson and David Demers.

In the other Senior contest, the Lisbon Street Getty Mart Redskins improved to 3-1 with a 28-6 win over Aaron’s Sales & Lease Steelers. Erik Wilson had a big day for the ‘Skins, opening the scoring by picking off a pass and returning it 35-yards for a TD. He also caught a 2-point conversion and made a number of tackles on defense. Others scoring touchdowns were Stephen Hinkley, a 38-yard scamper; Tyler Haskell, a 2-yard burst; and George Hopkins who snagged a 35-yard TD pass from Hinkley. Hopkins followed with a 2-point conversion. Defensive standouts were Hopkins, Wilson, Casey Thurlow, A. Nelson and Devin Goyette. Mickey Barboza and Hinkley each recovered a fumble. Playing tough defense for the Steelers were Sheldon Jones, Steven Labrecque and Ryan Rossignol.

In the Junior Division, the Giants remained unbeaten a fourth game with a 13-0 triumph over Don Morin’s Photo Lions. Quintarian Brown tallied both touchdowns on runs of 32- and 55-yards. Eli Cady had a big defensive game. Leading the Lions were Sheon James, Chris Thomas and Dolor Smith.

In the other Junior contest, Dante Brooks scored twice as the Northeast Athletics Junior Redskins improved to 3-1 with a 20-0 victory over the Bagels-N-Things Steelers. One of his TD’s came on a punt return. A defensive standout was Sabin Lavorgna who intercepted a pass and ran it back for a TD. Having a fine game for the Steelers were Matt Roddy and Pat Alexander III.
