Dear Sun Spots: Bakerstown students have shown a desire to create some of their clothing, a quilt etc. We don’t have any working sewing machines at our site. We would appreciate any readers would be willing to donate for our use. We are located in the old Poland Town Office and can be reached at 998-8266. Thank you. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I remember seeing names of people who pick up leftovers from those who have had garage sales. I was wondering if you’d be able to accommodate me once again with the list, along with their phone numbers as I will need their help after a garage sale I’ll be having.

Some of them will do it by offering a flat rate for all the items we have left. Others charge a fee. Whatever the case, I would appreciate whatever names you may have. Thanks again for all you do for your readers. – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
Consider contacting:

The Loaves and Fishes program, at the Dominican Sisters’ grounds, 61 Lisbon Road, Sabattus. Arrangements to pick up leftover items may be made by calling 375-8399 and asking for Sr. Lucille Fournier.

Another option is the Salvation Army. You will need to contact them to make an appointment for pickup. They can be reached at 800-958-7825.

Dear Sun Spots: In a back issue of Sun Spots, there was an article from someone who had raised pole cranberry shell beans. I have misplaced the article but believe it ran in August. Could you please republish the article? I think they were providing a recipe and used their own pole cranberry shell beans. Thank you for this column and the help. – Susan from Minot.

Dear Sun Spots: In 1997, you ran an article on used artificial limbs. My wife passed away some time ago and I’m in the process of packing to move. She had an artificial leg in the early stages, but didn’t live long enough to get a more advanced product. If this would be of value to one of these organizations I would ship it if it cannot be picked up. Is Bio Medical Appliance still in business? Please send me their address or name and address of a firm that reuses these parts. I think there are some stocking parts that have never been used. I realize the article ran at least 10 years ago but I am hoping you will be able to give me some information on one of these firms.

I expect to be moving sometime in November but no date has been set yet. Please advise. – John Knight, Berlin, N.H.
