LEWISTON – Armandine “Aimee” Blanchette Caron celebrated her 95th birthday recently. A birthday party was given in her honor at the home of her granddaughter and husband, Christine and Alan Deditch, on Sept. 9.

Mrs. Caron was born Armandine Fortier on Sept. 1, 1911, at Ste Honore de Chenley, Quebec, Canada. She was married to Willie A. Blanchette on April 29, 1935. He died on Nov. 30, 1962.

They have five children: Elaine and her husband, Gerald Wark; Marie and her husband, Val Madore; Willie A. Blanchette Jr.; Roger and his wife, Pauline (Dubois) Blanchette; Anita and her husband, Raymond J. Maurice.

Mrs. Caron has 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Present at the party were her husband, Armand Caron, her brother, Laurent Fortier, and his wife, Isabelle, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews from all over Maine, Florida and Connecticut. She received many gifts and cards.

Mrs. Caron is still active. She loves to read, sew, go riding and shopping. She walks twice a day with her husband.
