PARIS – People with diabetes will have a chance to learn how to prepare good-tasting, healthy foods at a series offered by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, “Diabetes: Eating Matters.”

It is a four-part workshop series on providing meals for the person with or at risk for type 2 diabetes. The series will include selecting foods for the person with diabetes; preparing good-tasting, healthy foods and understanding portions. Participants will also have an opportunity to sample healthy food choices at each session.

The series will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Fridays, Oct. 13, 20, 27 and Nov. 3, at the Extension Office, Olson Road, South Paris. Wendy Legg Pollock, Extension educator, will lead the sessions.

The cost is $12 a person, with an additional $6 for another person from the same family. Scholarships are available. Registration and fee are due by Monday, Oct. 9. Space is limited. Call the Extension Office at 743-6329 or 1-800-287-1482 for more information.
