STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Cristina Di Ielsi scored with one second remaining in double overtime to lift the University of Maine to a 2-1 women’s soccer victory over Stony Brook

Maine (10-1-1) is ranked 23rd in the nation.

With the game seemingly headed for a tie, the Black Bears were awared a throw-in with 10 seconds remaining. Di Ielsi got possesion quickly and her shot beat Stony Brook (7-5-1) keeper Marisa Viola.

UNE 4, Lasell 1

BIDDEFORD – Freshman Taryn Flagg of Livermore Falls tallied a pair of goals to help the University of New England to a 4-1 victory over Lasell.

Flagg’s first goal came 18 seconds into the second half when she carried the ball nearly 30 yards and drove home a shot.

Southern Maine 1, St. Joseph’s 0

GORHAM – Caitlin Albert fired a shot inot the net in the 56th minute of the game to give the University of Southern Maine a 1-0 victory over St. Joseph’s in collegiate field hockey action Thursday.

Albert snapped the deadlock when she collected her own rebound off a deflected shot and fired a shot from the right side of the circle past Monks’ keeper Karrie Sirois.

Allie Hill posted five saves in net for the Huskies (6-6) to earn her first career shutout. Sirois finished the day with three saves.
