LEWISTON – The Lewiston Ice Dawgs hockey team is seeking players as it prepares to enter its second year in the Southern Maine Middle School Ice Hockey League. Eligible are male or female players in Grades 6-8 who attend schools in Lewiston or Sabattus. Tryouts are slated for Saturday, Oct. 14 from 1-4:20 p.m. at the Colisee in Lewiston. Candidates are asked to report at 12:15.
Players must pre-register online with USA Hockey and bring a copy of the receipt to the tryouts before taking to the ice. A $20 tryout non-refundable fee will be collected prior to the tryout session.
Lewiston will field two teams in the SMMSHL, and a third team will play in the Braun Division depending on the number of candidates at the tryouts.
The season consists of about 16 games with several practice sessions. Uniforms are included in the entry fee which should remain under $300, according to Team President Bob Parker.
