PORTLAND (AP) – Mike Iggulden netted the only goal in the post-game shootout, lifting the Worcester Sharks past the Portland Pirates 4-3 Friday in the American Hockey League.
After trailing twice, the Sharks battled back to tie it in the final seconds of regulation.
Portland held a 2-0 lead midway through the second period. Bjorn Melin scored late in the first and Tim Brent connected at 3:55 of the second. After Mathieu Darche narrowed the Sharks deficit to one 11:11 into the second, Joe Pavelski tied it 2-2 at 3:53 of the third.
Shawn Thornton gave Portland a 3-2 lead at 8:10, but Dan Spang scored Worcesters tying goal with 53 seconds remaining.
Worcester won the shootout on Igguldens successful shot.
