Dear Sun Spots: In the event that Gerald Loring of Bethel does not find anyone who puts up green tomato mincemeat, maybe he would like to try the following recipe and make his own:

Mock mincemeat ingredients: 18 green tomatoes, 18 tart apples, ¾ lb. seedless raisins, ¾ lb. seeded raisins, 3 Tbsp. cinnamon, ¾ cup fruit juice, ¾ cup cider vinegar, 1½ cups minced citron, 6 Tbsp. orange rind, 3 tsp. salt, 3 tsp. cloves, 1½ tsp. allspice, 1½ tsp. ginger, ¾ tsp. nutmeg. Method: Force tomatoes and cored apples through a food chopper. Add remaining ingredients and cook until thick. Fill into sterilized jars and seal. Makes about 3 quarts.

Enjoy! – B.B., No Town.
