LEWISTON – A Drano-bomb dropped from a car on the corner of Brault and Blanchette streets Sunday night had ingredients similar to other homemade bombs found in the past couple of weeks.

According to Lt. Mark Cornelio, police have recently been called to Kennedy Park and Dunkin’ Donuts on Lisbon Street to deal with the noise-making devices.

“Halloween is coming and the bombs are more than likely a prank,” said Lewiston Fire Capt. Victor Gaudreau. He was quick to add that the bomb found Sunday night, composed in a one liter soda bottle, was not highly toxic.

One firetruck responded to the scene to hose down the area where the bomb was set off. The water will simply dilute the liquid left by the bomb, explained Gaudreau.

The bomb was reported by a resident of Brault Street, who called police after hearing a loud “popping” noise, Gaudreau said.

Police did not have a description of the vehicle or suspects Sunday night, but planned to keep an eye on the recent string of pranks.
