FRYEBURG – Police are looking for a suspect who stole a truck, crashed it into the Fryeburg House of Pizza, then fled on foot Tuesday night.

Police have a few leads, but have not made any arrests, Lt. Michael McAllister said Wednesday.

McAllister said he wasn’t sure if there was a second person in the stolen vehicle.

McAllister said the individual allegedly stole the vehicle from the owner of the pizza shop, Leo Katsigiannis. It was a loaner pickup truck, since his car was getting repaired.

As the thief was speeding out of the parking lot, where the pickup had been parked, the driver lost control and crashed into the shop’s porch and storefront, McAllister said.

The truck sustained $3,600 to $4,600 in damage, Katsigiannis said. McAllister said the damage to the shop was between $5,000 and $6,000.

“It destroyed my whole porch,” Katsigiannis said.

Police believe the same individual smashed in the windows to a local beauty shop, McAllister said.

Once caught, the individual will face charges of theft of a motor vehicle, driving to endanger, reckless conduct and possibly burglary, McAllister said.

Anyone with information on the incident may phone Fryeburg police at 935-3323.
