PARIS – An antique appraisal day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Congregational Church. Bruce A. Buxton, Portland antiques auctioneer and appraiser, will assess the value of items.

Buxton has been auctioning and appraising antiques, fine and decorative arts, furniture, silver and other items all over the United States for 38 years.

In addition, well-known book expert Doug Harding will be on hand to value books and manuscripts and appraiser Beth Turner will value jewelry.

Appraisal day is being sponsored by the Rotary Club of Oxford Hills, and profits will benefit youth and education projects in the community. People may have one item appraised for $8, two for $15 and three for $20. There is a three-item limit per visit, but people may return as many times as they want.

Because of the time required, coins and stamps will not be appraised. Collections are not considered one item unless they are all the same, such as a set of butter knives or a set of plates.
