Maine Bishop Richard Malone spoke against the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (Oct. 13). Of course he is against it! He does not have the burden of taxes like the rest of us have.
Also the town of Poland endorses anti-TABOR resolution (Oct. 13). This would imply the whole town of Poland is anti-TABOR. In reality, it was seven members of the Poland Regional High School Community writing into the newspaper.
In the same paper, Jean Diethrich writes that our land is going to be reduced because we will have to give it up to people from out of state. What? This is like all the other letters coming into the paper against TABOR. The ones that say children will starve and the elderly will freeze to death. TABOR is about accountability of the people’s money. Not state, city, or town money. The people’s money.
The one story in the paper of Oct. 13 for why we need TABOR was on Page B5: ‘Nine homes being foreclosed.’
This is nine families being uprooted because they cannot afford to live in Maine. No matter what your opinion is, for or against TABOR, we have young people in the armed forces around the world protecting everyone’s right to vote. Please vote.
