JAY – Registration will be held this weekend for the Western Mountain Flyers youth hockey program. The first sign-up session is set for Friday, Oct. 27 from 5-7 p.m. at Jay Community Building, and the second for Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9-11 a.m. at the Ludden Memorial Library, Dixfield.

Eligible are youngsters ages 4-16 who reside in Dixfield, Mexico, Rumford, Canton, Peru, Jay, Livermore, Farmington, and all other neighboring towns. Cost is $150 for the season plus a $35 registration fee that is due at the sign-up session. No previous skating or hockey experience is necessary. A learn to skate seminar program is offered.

The Flyers meet on Sunday evenings at Alfond Arena at Kents Hill. The season will begin on November 5 and end on February 25. The program offers scrimmages against other teams, plus other special events. Last year, the skaters were treated to a day clinic with members of the Maine Black Bears hockey team.

Volunteers are needed for the program.
