BOSTON (AP) – The Boston Bruins recalled defenseman Matt Lashoff from their AHL affiliate in Providence on Wednesday, just in time to make his NHL debut against their archrival Montreal Canadiens today.

Lashoff, 20, was the Bruins first pick, 22nd overall, in the 2005 NHL draft after three years of junior hockey.

He signed with Providence in March near the end of the AHL season and had one goal and one assist in seven regular-season and six playoff games last season.

He has one goal and one assist in five games so far this year.

Lashoff, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of East Greenbush, N.Y., had 16 goals and 77 assists in three seasons with Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League.
