WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) – Mathieu Darche scored two goals as the Worcester Sharks beat the Portland Pirates, 4-2, on Friday night.

It was Portland’s first regulation loss of the season, despite outshooting Worcester 37-21.

Clay Wilson gave Portland a 1-0 lead early in the first period but Worcester scored the next four goals. Riley Armstrong tied it on a breakaway before the first period was over, then Darche scored twice and Lukas Kaspar once in the first 9:03 of the second period.

Pierre Parenteau was able to make it a two-goal game at 5:52 of the third period and the Pirates continued to press, outshooting Worcester 16-4, but Nolan Schaefer made some key saves in the closing minutes.

Graham Mink and Joe Pavelski had a pair of assists each for the Sharks.
