Buckfield: Camp lots defined more
BUCKFIELD – The Board of Assessors has approved giving camp lots two definitions. Camp lot number 1 is defined as a parcel of land up to 1 acre and located on an abandoned road, discontinued road or is landlocked and is less than 250 feet from electricity served by lines from utility poles or underground and supports a residence or camp on the parcel.
Camp Lot number 2 is defined as a parcel of land up to 1 acre located on an abandoned road, discontinued road or is landlocked and is greater than 250 feet from electricity served by lines from utility poles or underground and supports a residence or camp on the parcel of land unless the parcel of land abuts a body of water, then the Camp Lot number 1 shall apply.
After reviewing the current dwelling unit valuation schedule, the board increased values 5 percent across the board. Assessors assistant Cindy Dunn said the reason is the state has advised Buckfield its valuations are only 83 percent to fair market value, less than the 90 to 100 percent range mandated. This means that everyone across the board will receive a 5 percent increase in their residences.
