PARIS – Patricia Young, administrator of the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris, has announced that the Maine Masonic Charitable Foundation has made a donation of $1,500. The funds will be used to provide programs and services for the residents of the 90-bed facility.
Three other Maine veterans’ homes have also received the same amount. The funds have been put into a special account for activities or equipment that cannot be funded in another way.
Myron Pierce, a resident on the 28-bed residential care unit, has worked with the Maine Masonic Foundation as a Maine Service Association representative from the Maine Veterans’ Home.
He visits with other Masonic members in the area as well as those who enter the facility as residents. He found that there are veterans in the home with certain needs or desires, and no financial resource is available.
A plan has been implemented and Pierce and Young will work jointly to decide where the funds will be used. A report will then be submitted to the Maine Masonic Foundation explaining the plan.
