CANTON – The town’s recreation committee is installing lighting for the ball field and ice rink located on Route 140. The project is being funded from the recreation budget. The committee is also starting a movie night for kids in the municipal building.
The town received two bids for heating fuel and diesel. Selectmen accepted the low bid from J. & W. Oil Co. of Mechanic Falls. Low bid for No. 2 fuel was $1.99 per gallon, Kerosene at $2.29 per gallon and diesel fuel before taxes was $2.59 per gallon and propane at $1.65 per gallon.
According to Administrative Assistant Kathy Hutchins the town has received a survey for the Jewett Hill property. Before the property is put out to bid or auction, it will be divided into two lots.
Advertisements have been issued for demolition bids on five houses that have been stripped and the shells left for demolition. These houses were bought recently at auction.
The bids are due Nov. 4. The next auction round on more houses from the flood buy out program will be Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. in the municipal building.
