SABATTUS – Clarence and Simone Hinkley of Sabattus celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 23, with a gathering of 85 relatives and friends at the Jacques Cartier Club in Sabattus. The event was hosted by their sons, Clarence (Skip) Hinkley III and his companion, Jennifer Tuttle, of Richmond, and Lee and his wife, Jaynne Hinkley of Litchfield, granddaughter, Jamie Lee Hinkley, and great-granddaughter, Isabelle Lynn of Lewiston.

Mr. Hinkley and the former Simone Small were married on Sept. 22, 1956, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Sabattus. They have three sons, Skip Hinkley of Richmond, Guy Hinkley of Winthrop and Lee Hinkley of Litchfield. They also have five grandchildren, Jamie Lee Hinkley of Lewiston, Paul Smith of Florida, Bryan Swafford of Auburn and Amber and Shelby Hinkley of Winthrop. They also have a great-grandchild, Isabelle Lynn of Lewiston.

During the evening, a surprise birthday cake was presented to Skip Hinkley on his 49th birthday.

Mr. Hinkley is a retired electrical designer, who was employed at Bath Iron Works for 41 years. Mrs. Hinkley was a housewife. Both are members of the Jacques Cartier Club, the Sabattus Senior Citizens and the American Legion Post 135 of Sabattus.
