Clean Election candidate?: No

1. I am seeking a legislative seat as a public service.

2. My top priority is to reduce taxes.

3. TABOR is a wake-up call to the spending policies of the current legislative team. TABOR gives power back to the people, and we need that because Mainers are the highest taxed folks in the country. If TABOR passes, there will, of course, be challenges for our legislators. The Colorado TABOR, although different than Maine’s TABOR, is a good road map for the pros and cons.

4. Maine’s government should focus on fiscal, not social issues. If I vote on social issues, I will seek the advice of my wife.

5. How we pay for health care is a complex issue. DIRIGO is too expensive, twice as expensive as New Hampshire. Maine should create a high risk pool and seek to fund that pool with available federal funds. Market competition among insurance companies for the non-high risk Mainers would drive prices down and design insurance for health conscious Mainers. State government should back out of the health care business.
