AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA is set to begin its 39th season of youth basketball. The YMCA Coed Youth Basketball League is designed for youngsters in Grades 2-6 who reside in Auburn, Lewiston and surrounding communities.

The program is designed to instruct the basic fundamentals of basketball, and to develop individual skills of dribbling, passing and shooting within a team atmosphere.

There are two divisions. The Pee Wee Division is for boys and girls in Grades 2-4. The Junior Division includes youths in Grades 5-6.

The Pee Wee draft is set for Sunday, Nov. 12 at 9 a.m. at the YMCA. Games are played on Sunday mornings, with the season to begin on Nov. 19.

The Junior draft is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1 at 9 a.m. at the YMCA. Games are played on Saturday mornings, with the regular season beginning Nov. 18.

All players who register by Nov. 10 will be placed on a team.

Players in the YMCA league will also be eligible to try out for travel teams involved in the Central Maine Basketball League. More information on travel teams will become available on draft day.

New to the program this year is a “Game of Week” and a “Breakfast of Champions”. Players are inivited to the Teen Center before or after their game for a Continental Breakfast.

Volunteer coaches, program assistants and officials are needed.
