Lewiston – Doris R. Lizotte, 77, of Washington Street in Auburn, died Thursday, Nov. 16, at Central Maine Medical Center after a long illness.
She was born in West Farmington, on Jan. 8, 1929, the daughter of Millard and Mildred Rackliffe. She grew up in West Farmington and graduated from Farmington High School.
She worked in the Auburn area at Wallingford Orchards and retired from Tambrands Inc. In 1948, she married Henry J. Lizotte who passed away in 1996. She was dedicated to the community in many groups, including being a Girl Scout leader and the Womens’ Auxiliary of the Auburn Fire Department known as the “Sparkettes.” She was an avid and die-hard Red Sox fan and enjoyed bowling for many years.
She is survived by her three children, son, Jonathan Lizotte, and wife, Diane; daughter, Doreen Pettitt, and husband, Ronald; son, Reed Lizotte, and wife, Marie; 10 grandchildren, Dora Easterling, Wendy Younk, Samantha Brooks, Michelle Hale, John Lizotte, Chrissy Ames, Ritchie Dan, Larry Lizotte, Rick Doak and Chris Saucier; 12 great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life; a sister, Joanne Farrington of Temple; two brothers, Hollis Rackliffe of Farmington and Bernard Rackliffe of Weld.
She was predeceased by a sister, Ida Rowan; and four brothers, Herbert, Lewis, Earlan and Almond Rackliffe.
