PORTLAND – Lorraine P. McGinnis, 62, a longtime resident of New Gloucester, died on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Camden, N.J., Nov. 9, 1944, the daughter of Elwood “Jack” Jackson and Tessie Jackson. She spent a considerable amount of time in Levittown, Pa., and had a long history in Maine, moving here permanently in 1991.
She married Jim McGinnis in Portland in 1963. This happy union stood the test of time, 43 years. She most recently worked and was surrounded by friends at Gobeil’s Furniture Galleries of Gray for the last 13 years.
She enjoyed gardening, bargain hunting, church every Sunday and her two cats. Everyone that met her was fond of her. She was so caring and had genuine friendliness to all. She frequently enjoyed trips to visit family in Pennsylvania, escapes to the coast of Maine, and quality time with her mother, Tessie.
Some of her favorite times were spending time with her grandchildren; two with her daughter in Pennsylvania and two locally.
She is survived by her husband, Jim McGinnis; her mother, Tessie Jackson; daughter, Robin McGinnis-Lykon; son, J.R. McGinnis, and wife, Alicia; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Kolby Lykon and Saige and Raine McGinnis; two brothers and their wives, Wayne and Pat Jackson of Windham and Dan and Teresa Jackson of New Gloucester; an aunt, Jean Blaszko; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be sadly missed by all.
