LOWELL, Mass. (AP) – Simon Ferguson scored off a 2-on-1 break at 3:13 into the third period to snap a 1-1 tie, and the Portland Pirates earned a 2-1 victory over the Lowell Devils.

Michael Leighton made 36 saves for the Atlantic Division-leading Pirates (12-6-0-2), who broke a three-game winless streak.

Chris Minard put Lowell (9-7-1-1) in front 1-0 at 6:01 of the second period before Portland’s Petteri Wirtanen tied it at 9:29.

Frank Doyle had 27 saves for the Devils, who outshot Portland 37-29.
