NORTH BERWICK – The wedding of Rita Theresa Rix and Andrew Bradford Sloat was held at 6 p.m. on Aug 4. The outdoor ceremony was held at Spring Hill Lodge in North Berwick. The Rev. John Williams participated in the ceremony.

Mrs. Sloat is the daughter of William and Gwendolyn Rix of Wells. Mr. Sloat is the son of Bradford and Cynthia Sloat of Auburn.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore an ivory strapless gown with satin lace trimming and ornamental beading.

Her long-time friend, Dana Kvalheim served as her maid of honor. Her bridesmaids were her sister, Sarah-Jane Rix, and friends, Teryn Clark and Jennifer Lever.

James Gaylord IV, long-time friend of the bridegroom, performed the duties of the best man, and Andrew’s groomsmen included his brother, Jeffrey Sloat, and friends, Jayme McManus and Denzel Snyder. The flower girls were the bride’s cousin, Eliza Foye, and her niece, Amelia Murphy, and the ring bearer was her nephew, Seamus Murphy.

A reception followed the ceremony inside Spring Hill Lodge, after which the couple traveled to the Dominican Republic for their honeymoon. Mr. and Mrs. Sloat reside in Westbrook.

The bride is a graduate of Marshwood High School in Eliot and is currently studying at the University of Southern Maine.

Mr. Sloat is a graduate of Edward Little High School and the University of Southern Maine. He is employed as a software specialist in the eCommerce Department at TDBanknorth in Falmouth.
