AUBURN – Sylvan Learning Center has announced the winner of the October Exceptional Teacher Award. Jen Marchant, a special education teacher at Montello Elementary School in Lewiston, was awarded $250 to be used toward school supplies for her classroom.
Sylvan rewards special teachers to encourage them to continue inspiring students. The grant is a one-time cash award to be used for classroom supplies. The grant is based on the uniqueness of a specific program or lesson or the expressed need for classroom materials that will support a specific lesson.
The Exceptional Teacher Award is open to all teachers in the greater Lewiston/Auburn area from October through May. Teachers must complete a brief application in which they describe how they would use the funds. Applications were delivered to schools in September. Teachers may contact Alicia Ouellette at 784-6801 to receive additional applications.
