LEWISTON – Anyone interested in becoming a nurse is invited to attend an open house and information session on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn Campus.

Faculty member, advisers and students from the nursing program will be on hand to discuss the admissions process, program requirements and curriculum. An informal question and answer period will follow.

The BS in Nursing, offered at the Lewiston-Auburn campus through USM’s College of Nursing and Health Professions, is fully accredited by the National League for Nursing and the Maine Board of Nursing. Students who enroll in the Lewiston-Auburn-based program are able to complete all requirements locally, with no travel to Portland.

The nursing program is open to traditional first-year college students and to adult learners. Some of the distinctive features of this program include a state-of-the-art nursing lab, local clinical sites, a community partnership-based curriculum and a coaching program that matches nursing students with local health care professionals.

This informational meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at USM/L-A, 51 Westminster St. Light refreshments will be served. Anyone who wishes to attend is asked to call Lynn at 753-6624 or e-mail to lacnursing@usm.maine.edu. More information is also available online at www.usm.maine.edu/lac/nursing.
